Sudaryono,
born in 1952, is the son of Sudarso, one of the
leading representatives of the Indonesian realist movement.
Unlike his father, Sudar has his own style. To the question:
are his works realist or abstract, he answered to Jean
Couteau:
I am an abstract painter who is realist, or a realist
painter who
is abstract.”

After finishing his study
at the Academy of Fine Arts in Yogyakarta in 1985,
Sudar started to exhibit in Indonesia and abroad, including
in Jakarta, Bali,
Yogyakarta, Warsaw, New York, Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka
and Geneva.
Influenced by Picasso’s Cubism, Sudar stresses
more on line, color and
surfaces. Since 1996, Sudar has been inspired by the
spirit of tribal design.
His first exhibition in Surabaya demonstrates without
doubt the talent of his
creative energy.
This exhibition was held on 13
July 2005 - 13 August 2005
